The Georgia 2008 305(b)/303(d) draft list of waters was prepared in accordance with Sections 305(b) and 303(d) of the Federal Clean Water Act and guidance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Assessed waterbodies are classified according to a comparison of water quality monitoring results to water quality standards and other pertinent information.
The availability of the draft list package was publicly noticed on January 23, 2008. EPD held three public meetings across the State in order to answer questions regarding the draft 2008 list of waters and to receive comments. These meeting were held on February 19th in Atlanta, February 21st in Rome and February 25 in Midway. All comments, both written and verbal, have been taken into consideration. The 2008 305(b)/303(d) Listing package has been finalized by EPD and submitted to the USEPA for review and approval.
The list of waters is to be considered “draft” until such time that USEPA approves the 303(d) list. Once approval is received, EPD will update this website to indicate that approval has been granted and to include a copy of the Water Quality in Georgia Report, 2006-2007.
