Environmental Radiation Program

The Environmental Radiation Program performs these duties:

  • Acts as primary state responder to incidents at nuclear power plants.
  • Oversees remedial actions involving radioactive materials.
  • Maintains environmental radiation monitoring networks around commercial and defense nuclear facilities in or bordering Georgia.
  • Regulates the concentration, storage and disposal of radioactive waste material.
  • Provides radio-analytical support to EPD.
